100% is a Long Shot

Nowadays, something being 100% is a long shot-- especially in love and relationships. I'm not saying this because I'm an antagonist of love nor because I'm a self-centered freak who cares about nothing but myself. I'm saying this because I don't wanna say half-truths.

We all have a point in something and it just happened that one boring night, I thought of this topic and decided to make a fuzz about it. So here's my point, I believe that love can never be 100%. We all fall in love, we always do.We meet someone with the most beautiful face, we fall in love. We come to know a person who makes us laugh till our stomach aches, we fall in love. We cross paths with someone whose intelligence and emotional quotient really takes our breath away, we fall in love. In just a blink of an eye, we fall head over heels for that person we say we're in love with.

But is it really love? What if it's just a little crush? An irresistible admiration? We can never know until commitment follows. Being in a relationship gives you a combination of a positive feeling of having someone who looks after you and a negative feeling of having no one who'll get interested with you because technically, you're already taken. There's just this undeniable boundary that separates people who are in a relationship from those who are single and available. When you're in a relationship, you're bound to the things only "couples"  do like having a term of endearment, calling and/or texting until you both fall asleep, a hundred movie or dinner dates and simply being exclusively for each other. However, having those perks doesn't guarantee that they are in love with each other 100%. The thing is they really are in love but only in a percentage below the maximum of 100%. Mostly, people love someone only at 70% and to complete the 100% and fill the remaining 30%, they put in 20% attachment and 10% loyalty.

Relationships last not only because of love. They last primarily because people don't love each other 100%. Aside from love, they get attached with each other and become loyal to the relationship they share. If a relationship is built solely of love, what will happen if the love that the two people share suddenly fades? Take the case of an ice which is only made up of water that is frozen. If it's unfrozen, it melts and the "ice" completely becomes out of existence. When love is the only ingredient that makes a relationship and the love is gone, it is deemed that the relationship will be gone as well. However, not all relationships go down the drain because there are a lot more that over the years, have proven to be unbeatable and have become as stronger as ever. You know what their secret is? They don't just love. They get attached to their loved one and they value fidelity so much. Yes, loving somebody wholeheartedly is a noble thing but it will be just a waste if it's not accompanied by anything more valuable like attachment and loyalty.

Love indeed starts every relationship but it is attachment and loyalty that makes it last. Well I guess I've said enough. For the record, while I'm writing this, a song keeps on playing on my mind: Love Will Keep Us Alive. Oh, how ironic! Anyway, let's meet again until the next episode of my boredom.

P.S. (I'm not in love right now. Who told you that? )

A Sonnet to the Future

.."Amongst everyone, you clearly stood out
Your eyes, your lips, the sound of your voice
They do mesmerize me and that's no doubt
Always, you are gonna be my choice.

But this feeling, I cannot say nor shout
'Coz when it's true, it's best without a noise
Nothing compares to what this is about
For it brings good luck and a bunch of joys.

Yes, feelings grow jut like the plants sprout
But it can't be played like we do with toys,
It's something that we cannot live without
Though sometimes it hurts and it annoys.

Yet, being with you 'til my days run out
Is one thing that will make my life in poise.
Those mem'ries with you will make the days count
And forever will make my heart rejoice.."

It's a good feeling to be in love. Sometimes, it makes us alive and learn to be the very best. While you still can, just let yourself love someone. Love is a gift, we should all have it.
